Polidori’s The Vampire

John Polidori, an Englishman of Italian extraction, was an associate of Byron and the Shelleys’. In a notorious twist of fate, one day, the group of literary heavy weights challenged each other to a writing contest. Who had penned the most ghastly tale? Little Mary Shelley, of course. “Frankenstein” won the popular vote.
The following was a submission from that contest.
